To get frequently used Statistic information from the Application Xtender (AX) can be easy using the Rx-Manager.

The Rx-Manager is using the AX Audit table, which by itself is not that user friendly if you are not a qualified SQL programmer.

With the Rx-Manager, the Administrator simply selects the "Count Of" events; like "New Document" for newly scanned documents or "Execute Query" for retrieval numbers.

The second selection is the "Grouping Per"; like "App", "User" or "App per User".

The final selection before executing the Statistic Query is to select the Data Range by either using the Preset Date like; "Yesterday", "This Week" or "This Month". Or the Administrator can select the actual date range using the Rx-Manager calendar.

After the three selections the Query is ready to run, no SQL programming here. If the result of the Query is what the Administrator expected, then the Query can be saved. Saved Queries can be run at any time from either within the Rx-Manager or by letting the Windows Scheduler using the Rx-Manager extensive command-line interface. The later can then be automated by using the saved Query, producing the expected reports, via the Windows Scheduler configuration.

Since the reports, generated by the Query, can be automatically stores as CSV files. Those files can easily be imported into Excel and compared to previous reports. Or the CSV file can be used as the systems Base Line.

It is that easy to know, which AX Applications are a Hero or a Zero when it comes to how productive the different applications are.

We invite you to get an on-line demo of the NTS Rx-Manager program using the On-line Demo Webpage.

Top Story
One of the more powerful things about the Dell-EMC Application Xtender (AX) is that it is so easy to create Applications for storing and retrieving documents.

This power means that it is very easy to create Pilot Programs that uses AX as the backbone for its documents.

The more time consuming part of the Application is the scanning of documents. This means there will in general be a lag time between the start of a project and till the Application has suffusion documents to be productive.

AX Application: A Hero or a Zero?

At that point the question is how successful, or better said how productive, is the Pilot Program seen from the AX prospective.

We asked several AX Administrators "How do you quantify if an AX Application is a Hero or a Zero?"

Most answers feel into the group of "feelings"; like "If our users can find what they need, then it is a Hero".

However with the Rx-Manager install and using its Static Queries option, which can be stored and reused on weekly or monthly bases, the Administrators would know the following:

- The volume of new documents created every week or month. Since the Administrator knows the cost of scanning and indexing a single document, this will provide the weekly or monthly cost to populate AX with new documents.

- The Rx-Manager Static Queries can also provide how many user queries were executed to locate a document or group of documents by week or month. This will help the Administrator calculating the cost of retrieval.

With numbers like Scanning Cost and Retrieval numbers the success of the Pilot Program can be quantify when it comes to the impact AX has on the Project.

Using the Pilot Programs Statistic as a base line the Administrator will have a tool to monitor the use of the AX Application in production, and thereby test the ongoing success of the ECM part of this new project.
