Directly out of the box the OpenText Application Xtender (AX) does not have the option to fetch a specific document per the Doc ID.

In more and more installations, companies are required to locate prove of work, and that is done by simply producing a list of Doc ID's that need to be found in AX and converted to multi-page PDF document. This can't be done directly out of the box with AX, but the good news is that the NTS AX Export Toolbar can do it.

The NTS AX Export Toolbar will accept a list of Doc ID's. Automatically retrieve the document and on the fly, convert the scanned BIN TIFF files into one multi-page PDF document per Doc ID. This PDF file will be stored with metadata obtained from the AX document index as the filename.

Good size companies, and government departments, must be compliant to some set of regulations, like HIPPA.

Many regulations are self-controlled, which means that the company creates internal policies and rules to be followed. Then the company has a complies department, and they are the once that are requesting "prove", which many times are either documents retrieved or document history retrieved.

The later can be done by adding the Rx-Manager to the integration, and let that work the Audit table of AX.

We invite you to get an on-line demo of the NTS AX Export Toolbar and the Rx-Manager program.

Top Story
Why is Gartner saying that "Electronic Content Management" or "ECM" is now dead, and the term has been replaced by "Content Service"?

Looking back; the Document Management concept moved from being a simple electronic storage and retrieval, that was replacing the filing cabinets, to a more interactive system, and that was when the term ECM was born

"Content Service"

In today's world, any corporate company or government organization is demanding a lot more out of the electronic stored documents. They would love to see that any data from anywhere can connect and display content stored in electronic format, like accounting or case management can also show scanned images, even if the images are stored and managed by another application.

This points to that more and more datamining is being put into action. And with the increase of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) we must accept that stored document becomes a Content Service.

At NTS we have seen that move in two ways:

- One is integration where the datamining produces a result set of documents specified by a Doc ID. This result set produces PDF document that the researcher can peruse at any given time when needed. See sidebar for more information.

- Another solution is to integrate the result of datamining, in web format, directly with the stored documents using the NTS ASHXtender interfacing to the Application Xtender. This type of integration can be done fast and easily via a much simpler interface than a full AX API or Web Service.

For more information on the NTS ASHXtender see ASHXTender-Promo-2.pdf
