[FAQ 911015] How to let users un-subscribe
from the emailing list?
To ensure that you are not SPAMMING people you should let them un-subscribe for
your emailing list too. To do so you
need to add some text (see fig 1) “If you wish to eliminate yourself to our
mailing list please Click here”.
Highlight “Click here” and insert the following in the link
“ntsnews@sbcglobal.net?subject=Off-eBlast-List[Newsletter]&body=”Please
eliminate my name from the eBlast Address List category Newsletter” using “Mail
To” as the type (see fig 2). Note: The ntsnews@sbcglobal.net email address should not be our email
address but the email address that you have used as “From Email Address” on the
“Mailing Info” tab and also used on the “POP3” tab in the Setup dialog box.
When the user clicks the “Click here” link an email (see fig 3) is
created and sent to eBlast. Before you do another mailing it is recommended to
use the Tool Managers “Sync Returns” button to ensure that the eBlast Address
Database is current with new subscriptions, un-subscriptions and incorrect
email address.
You can expand the “subject” from “subject=Off-eBlast-List” to “subject=Off-eBlast-List[category]”
or “subject=Off-eBlast-List[category^category^category]”. Where “category” is
replaced with the category or groups of categories is used in the eBlast
Address Database. If no category is uses the email address in the Address
Database will be marked as un-subscribed whereas if category is used the
category if found will be removed from the email address associated categories.
Clearly if you have a way to un-subscribe you also need a way to subscribe.
